The Facts.<\/h1>\n

One flush of your toilet equals the amount of water one child in Sudan receives daily for all of his or her needs.<\/p>\n

In Sudan, some women and children walk up to 6 hours daily to fetch water that will likely make them sick.<\/p>\n

A child providing the average family of 6 with an average of 10 gallons per day must carry 80 pounds of water for up to 6 hours per day.<\/p>\n

The daily quest for water prevents most children (especially girls) from attending school.<\/p>\n

A worldwide epidemic.<\/h1>\n

Water is the foundation for life, growth, and human development, yet 1.1 billion people worldwide lack access to safe drinking water.<\/p>\n

Unsafe water <\/a>and a lack of basic sanitation causes 80% of all sickness and disease in the world, and kills more people every year than all forms of violence, including war.<\/p>\n

Of the 42,000 deaths that occur every week from unsafe water and a lack of basic sanitation, 90% are children under 5 years of age.<\/p>\n

How you can help.<\/h1>\n

$100 = one water well repair kit transported to the Nuba Mountains.<\/p>\n

Through the Nuba Water Project, we continue to support Nuba refugees who are studying agriculture, engineering, and public health. We also have provided educational assistance for secondary school students in Gidel within the Nuba Mtns.<\/p>\n
