Food supplies were short after a poor rainy season and a locust infestation devastated crops. Many wells throughout the Nuba Mountains and Sudan are broken and inoperable, making clean water inaccessible to the people there.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">By providing and transporting repair parts from Kenya through Juba to the Nuba Mountains, we enable residents to make simple repairs and replacement of parts, thereby helping themselves with access to clean water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Repair-Parts.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-752\" src=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Repair-Parts.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"197\" height=\"151\" \/><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Pump.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-751\" src=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Pump.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"182\" height=\"145\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Salera Village<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salara-Village.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-846 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salara-Village-300x111.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"111\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salara-Village-300x111.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salara-Village-768x283.jpg 768w, https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/Salara-Village.jpg 825w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Salera Village was lucky to have 15 bore holes&#8230;but 13 of them were inoperable.\u00a0 A $5,000 grant allowed them to fix six of the broken wells in the summer of 2019 and there are enough pipes left to fix more.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Safi Drops<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/SafiDrops-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-757\" src=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/SafiDrops-1-168x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"114\" height=\"204\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/SafiDrops-1-168x300.jpg 168w, https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/SafiDrops-1.jpg 235w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 114px) 100vw, 114px\" \/><\/a>Nuba Water Project provides Safi Drops to people in the Nuba Mountains.\u00a0 One drop of Safi in a gallon of dirty pond water will kill all the bacteria in 30 minutes, thereby proving clean water for people who have to gather water from lakes and ponds.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>Education Scholarships<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The Nuba Water Project supports the education of Nuba refugees who have fled to South Sudan, Uganda or Kenya and would be unable to attend school otherwise due to the crisis in the Nuba Mountains. This financial support comes in the form of tuition, boarding school fees, books, and living expenses.<\/p>\n<p>Support has also been provided to secondary schools in the Nuba Mountains.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>University Scholarship Recipients<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Morsal-with-Pack-crop.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-815 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Morsal-with-Pack-crop-300x252.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"187\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Morsal-with-Pack-crop-300x252.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Morsal-with-Pack-crop.jpg 612w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 187px) 100vw, 187px\" \/><\/a>Morsal<\/strong> started medical school in Uganda in 2021 to become a surgeon.\u00a0 He previously worked in the one hospital in the Nuba Mtns and is focused on returning to his home country to open another medical facility so people don&#8217;t have to walk so far for medical help.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Glario-Solar-Lantern.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-816 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Glario-Solar-Lantern-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"227\" height=\"170\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Glario-Solar-Lantern-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Glario-Solar-Lantern.jpg 432w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 227px) 100vw, 227px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Glario <\/strong>graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from a university in Kenya in 2021 after overcoming many obstacles throughout his educational journey.\u00a0 He has returned to his home village in the Nuba Mountains to apply his expertise and help his people.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_819\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-819\" style=\"width: 148px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Angelo-Cap-and-Gown.crop_-scaled.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\" wp-image-819\" src=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Angelo-Cap-and-Gown.crop_-260x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"148\" height=\"171\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-819\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">DSC_0490<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Angelo<\/strong> graduated in 2021 with a degree in Agriculture from a university near Kampala, Uganda.\u00a0 With future plans to start a demonstration garden in the Nuba Mountains, he also has a dream of venturing to Europe for a one-year internship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Manal<\/strong> received a Journalism and Communication degree in Kenya with the purpose of returning to the Nuba Mountains and promoting girl child education.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Rania-Photo.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-754 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Rania-Photo-300x250.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"221\" height=\"184\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Rania-Photo-300x250.png 300w, https:\/\/nubawaterproject.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/Rania-Photo.png 707w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 221px) 100vw, 221px\" \/><\/a>Rania<\/strong> attended university in Kampala, Uganda. Due to the Khartoum government-sponsored attacks on innocent civilians in the Nuba Mountains, we have been unable to work in that area and develop water infrastructure for the past two years.
